Use of supercritical CO2 to obtain Baccharis uncinella extracts with antioxidant and antitumor activity

The aim of the present study is to evaluate antioxidant activity (AA) different fractions supercritical extract Baccharis uncinella, in addition investigating and relating AA potential antitumor action bladder cancer (T24) glioblastoma cells (U87) also its toxicity against normal (Vero) for fraction with highest percentage free radical scavenging (% FRS). extracts were obtained sequentially by extraction CO2 (150 200 bar 60 °C) using ethanol as a co-solvent. fractionation was carried out column chromatography hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate methanol eluents. tested DPPH method cell tests performed MTT assay. methanolic had AA, %FRS 86.7 %, very close standard used test, quercetin, 87.9 %. able reduce viability less than 50 % at concentration 158.8 μg/mL T24, 213.9 U87 702.5 Vero cells. According results, B. uncinella has an antiproliferative effect tumor tested, effects on evaluated.
